An outline of the Eastman BroadBand's recent tour to Mexico can be found on NewMusicBox, the online magazine of the American Music Center. Deidre, flutist in the Arabesque Winds, wrote the multi-part series describing the rehearsal and travel schedule in detail. Her post about the bittersweet experience of performing on tour also applies to the feeling of performing with AW.

The Arabesque Winds have made an agreement with ELBmusic Artist Management! We are pleased to be working again with founder Ellina Blinder, who is an administrator of the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in Boston. When we performed for her in 2008, we knew it was only a matter of time before our paths crossed again!
Please contact Ellina at ELBmusic for all inquiries about our group's performances. |

The Arabesque Winds competed in the Semifinal Round of the Concert Artists Guild Competition. While we did not advance to the finals (indeed, no wind group did), we were pleased to play for the jury and to run into members of the Arundo Winds, one-time resident chamber music group at the University of Colorado.

As part of our stay in New York City this October, the Arabesque Winds perform at the wedding of Agnes Kim and Robert Icker. Isabel's sister, Agnes, is a member of a woodwind quintet of her own -- the KIMtet. The five children of the Kim family (Isabel, our clarinetist, Agnes, Stella, Andrew and Anthony) play in a woodwind quintet themselves, and will perform in March with the Old Tappan High School Band. |

Commencement today marks a milestone for bassoonist Eryn Bauer, the last member of the Arabesque Winds to graduate! We are now officially all alumnae of the Eastman School of Music!
A new phase of our group's career begins this summer, as most members leave Rochester. Eryn moves to Houston later this month, and Isabel to New Jersey. Liz moves to Lansing in August. Deidre will continue to pursue her MM in Pittsburgh until Spring 2011. Sophie will maintain her private studio in Rochester.
But don't worry! We're as busy as ever. Next season proves to be very promising for the Arabesque Winds. Updates to come!
Congrats, Eryn!

The Arabesque Winds begin a four-part outreach project in the high school in Le Roy, New York. During this first performance, the quintet performed for members of the high school band, and demonstrated the challenges of rehearsing and performing chamber music.
In future visits to the school, the Arabesque Winds will offer private lessons to students, coach student chamber music ensembles, and perform a recital alongside the students.
The Arabesque Winds' collaboration is made possible by a grant from the Messinger Foundation, in cooperation with the Eastman School's Institute for Music Leadership.
